Terms of Service

Last updated: 20 October 2026

1. Operator and Acceptance

AcrossRide Group is operated by Tobia Ciarulli, an independent developer based in Switzerland. The application may also appear as RideLink Group in certain versions or app store listings.

By using AcrossRide Group, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you should not use the application. These Terms apply together with the Privacy Policy and do not limit rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.

2. Purpose of the Service

AcrossRide Group helps people coordinate group trips through features such as trip invitations, itineraries, GPX routes, group chat, live maps, participant statuses and SOS alerts. Available features may differ between app versions.

The application is a coordination tool, not a certified navigation, vehicle safety, rescue or emergency-response system. Users remain responsible for their own decisions and safety.

3. Access Without Traditional Registration

Users do not need to register with an email address or password. The application uses Firebase Anonymous Authentication to create a technical user identifier needed to operate trip features and related permissions.

Users are responsible for keeping their devices and trip invitation codes secure. Uninstalling the application does not necessarily delete information already stored in online services.

4. Organizer and Participant Responsibilities

Trip organizers are responsible for managing invitations, coordinating participation and providing appropriate information about their trips. Participants are responsible for the information they choose to submit, including names, vehicle details, licence plates, telephone numbers or passenger information where these fields are used.

Do not provide another person’s personal information without an appropriate basis for doing so. Respect other participants’ privacy and do not share private trip codes or location information with unauthorized persons.

Do not interact with the application in a way that distracts you while driving or riding.Always obey traffic laws, local regulations and instructions from competent authorities.

5. GPS and Live Location Sharing

Live GPS sharing is voluntary and requires the applicable privacy consent, device permissions and explicit activation using GPS ON. Accepting the Privacy Policy alone does not enable GPS sharing.

While sharing is active, your position may be visible to authorized members of your trip and may be updated in the background, subject to device and network limitations.

GPS OFF stops local sharing. Server-side revocation and removal of the currently shared position take effect when confirmed by the server. If the device is offline or the network fails, that confirmation may be delayed; sharing by another device may continue until revocation or session expiry.

GPS OFF cannot erase screenshots, downloaded information or positions already received by other participants. Viewing the map, changing a participant status or sending an SOS does not automatically activate GPS sharing.

6. SOS and Emergency Situations

The SOS feature is intended to alert participants in the same trip that assistance may be needed. It does not automatically contact emergency services and does not guarantee that another participant will receive, see or act on the alert.

AcrossRide Group is not an emergency service and does not replace police, ambulance services, rescue organizations or other competent authorities. In an emergency, contact the appropriate local emergency services directly.

7. Chats, Routes and Shared Content

Users may share messages, photographs, documents, routes and other trip content with authorized participants. Users remain responsible for the content they submit and must have the rights needed to share it.

Users retain any rights they have in their own content and grant the operator the limited permission necessary to store, transmit and display that content as part of the requested app features.

Other participants may receive, download or retain shared content. AcrossRide Group cannot guarantee removal of copies independently kept by others.

8. Acceptable Use

Users must not:

  • violate applicable laws or the rights of other people;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate or deliberately mislead other users;
  • upload unlawful, abusive or harmful content;
  • attempt unauthorized access to trips, accounts, locations or technical systems;
  • interfere with the operation or security of AcrossRide Group;
  • misuse GPS, chat or SOS functions, including knowingly sending false emergency alerts.

9. Connectivity, Accuracy and Availability

AcrossRide Group depends on GPS signals, device permissions, battery conditions, internet or mobile networks and third-party services such as Firebase and mapping providers.

Locations, routes, messages and notifications may be delayed, outdated, inaccurate or unavailable. Continuous operation, delivery of alerts and uninterrupted availability cannot be guaranteed. Maintenance, technical issues or provider outages may temporarily affect the service.

Do not rely exclusively on the application for navigation, personal safety or emergency communication.

10. Privacy, Retention and Data Deletion

The Privacy Policy explains how personal information is collected, used, stored and protected, including the rules for voluntary location sharing and its revocation.

Trip information and shared content may remain available after a trip ends. Automated trip closure and deletion after fixed retention periods are not currently guaranteed to be active in production. Removing information from the app does not necessarily remove provider recovery copies, technical records or copies already received by other users.

For privacy questions or requests to delete personal information associated with a technical user identifier, contact:

Additional information may be needed to identify the relevant data securely.

11. Liability and Legal Rights

AcrossRide Group is provided on an “as available” basis. The operator makes reasonable efforts to maintain the service but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access, accurate location data or successful delivery of messages and SOS alerts.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not liable for losses arising from connectivity problems, inaccurate information, misuse of the application or decisions made by users in reliance on it.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability or user rights that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

12. Changes and Access Restrictions

Features and these Terms may change to address technical, security, legal or operational needs. The date above indicates the most recent revision. Material changes will be communicated or submitted for renewed acceptance where required by applicable law.

Access may be restricted where reasonably necessary to address abuse, unauthorized activity, security risks or legal obligations, subject to applicable law.
